Yesterday we fished live herring on flatlines and kite. We caught 2 big sailfish, 16 lb mahi, 18 lb kingfish, a smaller king and 2 bonito. We fought another sailfish that broke the leader.
Then last night we fished live shrimp along Miami Beach and caught a mutton snapper, a jack, a ladyfish and tarpon of 50 and 120 pounds. We had 2 more tarpon on that got away. That big fish gave Larry a 2 hour workout.

It shocked me to see I failed to post for a week. Shame on me. Well, that is past history.
Last Thursday we fished a father and two sons. Dad brought his fly rods so I planned on trying for action over quality.
What a success. We hit solid mackerel. We anchored over a school of bait and every cast with the flyrod or live bait brought a quick strike. We caught about 30 spanish mackerel, some jacks and 3 big bonito. When that spot slowed down we moved to a shallow wreck and caught a couple gray snapper and red groupers. Next spot was half a dozen hard fighting 4 to 8 pound amberjack. For the last couple hours we tried kite fishing. It was slow, but at the last minute we caught a mahi over 15 pounds.
Yesterday we were kite fushing when 6 year old Hayden complained of an upset stomach. We moved into the bay and the fun was on.
Abie hooked a bluefish on a plug and Hayden wound it in. Haydens dad hooked a fish and Hayden wound it in. Abie and Hayden’s dad Sean took turns hooking fish and Hayden alternated between winding in fish and telling grandpa Dave how many Hayden caught and the fact that grandpa caught zero.
Well it ended around 10 bluefish and 2 ladyfish for Hayden and no fish for Grandpa but we all caught big smiles and laughs

The last few days of fishing have been really tough. We have had great bait, good current and strong east winds. These generally add up to great fishing.
Our clients spend a lot of money and energy to put together a day of fishing. We put our hearts and souls into making sure our clients have a great day.
Well, the last few days the fish have really let us down. Yes, we caught a few tilefish for some good dinners. And we caught a couple good sized sharks for good fish fights. We even caught a big sailfish and nice sized mahi.
But we plan on a lot more. We thank our clients for understanding that fishing is not always catching.
Now about the best of fishing. Last night we fished with 3 young boys and their father. They came to us through “fishing to make a difference” a program that gets children from Joe Dimaggio Childrens Hospital. These smiling boys caught a bunch of bluefish, trout and ribbonfish. We had a lot of laughs. Fishing is the greatest
