The Dusky 278 center console has been the workhorse of the Florida Sea Base for years. The Florida Sea Base is the premier aquatics high adventure program of the Boy Scouts of America. Groups of 6 Scouts, 2 leaders and the boat captain take their Duskys out for fishing and snorkeling trips. Add a dive master and they use them for some of their scuba programs. These Dusky's also transport all the food and water to the Scouts camping on Big Munson Island. Florida Sea Base currently has a fleet of 12 Dusky 278 and one Dusky 33. The Boy Scouts take their Duskys out about 1000 times a year with Scouts participating in one of four different programs; the Out Island Adventure, the Keys Adventure, the Florida Fishing Adventure and the Scuba Adventure
